For Dr. Randhir Kumar, that dream was born in the small village of Naitand Village, Giridih District, Jharkhand, where he realized that education is the most powerful instrument for transforming lives, empowering communities, and building nations. Growing up in a rural environment with limited resources, he developed an unwavering determination to pursue academic excellence while creating opportunities for countless others to learn, lead, and contribute to society.
From an early age, Dr. Kumar displayed exceptional academic ability, intellectual curiosity, and leadership qualities. A consistently meritorious student, he secured top positions throughout his school education while actively participating in academic, literary, cultural, and social activities. His outstanding academic performance earned him the prestigious Jharkhand State Medha Scholarship, awarded by the Government of Jharkhand through the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) after qualifying in a highly competitive state-level examination. Receiving this scholarship during Classes VIII, IX, and X became a defining milestone that reinforced his conviction that education has the power to transform not only individual lives but also entire communities.
His educational journey was deeply influenced by the guidance of Shri Dineshwar Verma, a renowned educationist, recipient of the Government's Best Teacher Award, and retired Principal of Government T.K.N.K. (+2) High School, Janta Jaridih, Giridih. Equally inspiring was his great-grandmother, Late Smt. Savitri Devi, whose values of compassion, integrity, perseverance, and selfless service became lifelong guiding principles. Together, these influences shaped his philosophy of combining knowledge with character, leadership with service, and education with social responsibility.
Determined to pursue higher education, Dr. Kumar joined the Central University of Jharkhand, where he completed his Five-Year Integrated Master's Degree in English. His university years became a transformative phase marked by academic excellence, research, leadership, and community engagement. Beyond his classroom achievements, he actively participated in literary forums, research activities, student leadership initiatives, and social outreach programmes. He was also actively associated with Unnayan, the University's flagship community engagement initiative, through which he contributed to educational awareness, youth development, rural engagement, and community service.
It was during his university years that Dr. Kumar's vision expanded beyond personal academic success to institution building and educational reform. Driven by a strong commitment to youth empowerment and social responsibility, he founded the Naman Foundation (now Naman International Foundation for Education and Social Research – NIFESR) with the objective of promoting quality education, educational innovation, skill development, leadership development, research, and community empowerment, particularly among students and rural youth. Through the Foundation, he initiated numerous educational, literary, leadership, cultural, and social awareness programmes that encouraged volunteerism, innovation, and inclusive learning while inspiring young people to become responsible leaders and active citizens.
Recognizing the importance of cultivating a strong research culture among students, Dr. Kumar established and served as the Founding Chief Editor of "Naman," the first student academic journal of the Central University of Jharkhand. The journal provided an important platform for students, research scholars, and young academicians to publish original research papers, scholarly articles, literary works, book reviews, and critical essays. This pioneering initiative significantly promoted academic writing, interdisciplinary research, intellectual dialogue, and scholarly excellence within the University, and remains one of his earliest and most remarkable contributions to academic leadership and student-driven research.
During this formative period, he also organized numerous seminars, literary festivals, research workshops, educational campaigns, leadership programmes, debates, and community outreach initiatives in collaboration with faculty members, students, researchers, and civil society organizations. These experiences strengthened his leadership abilities and laid the foundation for his lifelong mission of building institutions that integrate academic excellence, research, innovation, constitutional values, ethical leadership, and social transformation.
Driven by an interdisciplinary approach to learning, Dr. Kumar further completed a Certificate Course in Media and International Relations offered by the Department of International Relations, Central University of Jharkhand, where he submitted a dissertation titled "Strategic Relations between India and Nepal." This academic engagement broadened his understanding of diplomacy, governance, media, international cooperation, and public policy, complementing his literary and educational background.
His pursuit of academic excellence culminated in the successful completion of his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D. in English Literature), with doctoral research titled "Gynocritical Discussion on the Selected Novels of Anita Nair." His research explored feminist literary criticism, gender studies, and contemporary Indian English literature while reflecting a broader commitment to social justice and interdisciplinary scholarship. He is also recognized as the first Ph.D. scholar to be awarded a doctoral degree by RKDF University, Jharkhand, marking a significant milestone in the University's academic history.
Parallel to his academic journey, Dr. Kumar gained valuable administrative experience while serving as Personal Assistant to the Hon'ble Governor of Jharkhand. This role provided him with extensive exposure to constitutional governance, public administration, higher education, policy coordination, and institutional management. Working closely with constitutional authorities and distinguished academic leaders further strengthened his understanding of governance and reinforced his belief that meaningful social transformation requires close collaboration between educational institutions, government agencies, and civil society.
As his academic and administrative experiences expanded, so did his vision. Determined to create sustainable institutions capable of transforming lives, he established several nationally recognized educational, research, leadership, literary, and social organizations, including the Naman International Foundation for Education and Social Research (NIFESR), the National Human Rights and Crime Control Bureau (NHRCCB), the Indian Institute of Leadership & Public Governance (IILPG), the International Council for Arts and Literature (ICAL), Naman International School, and Dineshwar Verma College for Higher and Vocational Education. These institutions continue to promote quality education, research, leadership development, constitutional awareness, human rights, cultural preservation, vocational education, and community empowerment, creating opportunities for students, educators, researchers, and young leaders across India.
His passion for constitutional values and social justice naturally evolved into a lifelong commitment to human rights. As National President of the National Human Rights and Crime Control Bureau (NHRCCB), Dr. Kumar has led nationwide initiatives promoting legal awareness, constitutional literacy, women's empowerment, child rights, anti-human trafficking, rural education, youth leadership, environmental awareness, and community participation. Under his leadership, the organization has successfully hosted numerous International Conventions, National Conferences, Human Rights Summits, Academic Seminars, Leadership Dialogues, Legal Awareness Programmes, Research Workshops, and Capacity Building Initiatives, bringing together judges, policymakers, administrators, academicians, legal professionals, researchers, journalists, and civil society leaders to address critical issues relating to human rights, education, governance, and sustainable development.
His commitment to public service extends beyond institutional leadership. Over the years, Dr. Kumar has submitted numerous public interest petitions, policy representations, and memoranda before the President of India, Prime Minister's Office (PMO), National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), National Commission for Women (NCW), Governors, Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries, Directors General of Police (DGPs), universities, and various constitutional and statutory authorities on issues relating to education, human rights, women's rights, child protection, anti-human trafficking, transparency, good governance, constitutional values, and public welfare. Many of these initiatives have resulted in official cognizance, administrative action, policy deliberations, institutional reforms, and corrective measures, reflecting his unwavering commitment to democratic governance and public accountability.
Dr. Kumar's journey reached the international stage when he represented UNESCO India at the United Nations Conference in Hanoi, Vietnam. At this prestigious global forum, he actively participated in discussions on education, sustainable development, leadership, human rights, and international cooperation. He presented India's transformative initiatives under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), advocated the global significance of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS), highlighted the importance of human rights in rural education, emphasized the preservation of India's rich tribal heritage, and promoted the enduring contributions of Emperor Ashoka and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to ethical governance, peace, leadership, and civilizational values. Through these engagements, he proudly represented India's educational and social initiatives while strengthening international dialogue on education, human rights, and sustainable development.
